Floating Memories

IMG_5438 copy

Sometimes, late at night when I can’t sleep, I lie in bed and try to remember as many sweet memories of Mama that I can.  As I lay perfectly still, my mind hovering in that lost space in time somewhere between consciousness and complete submission to la la land, I find that memories like to float in and out of my mind like kites soaring above a sandy beach dipping down just close enough for a clear view before they quickly bolt away to be replaced by the next flickering scene.  It is then that I clasp onto memories to solidify on paper in hopes of immortalizing Mama’s spirit.  I like to believe it is her guiding me through this journey, allowing me moments of pure clarity and loving memories to hold tight to.
